Alcohol is the number one date rape drug.
Beer, wine, and spirits, which is often referred to as hard liquor, contain various different quantities of ethanol by weight or volume; beer contains between 4-6% ethanol; wine contains roughly 10-13%, and hard liquor, which contains the highest amounts , which is estimated to be between 20-50%. The majority of hard liquor contains 40% of ethanol and is referred to as 80 proof.
Youth who drink alcohol are more likely to experience physical and sexual assault.
A report by the national Academy of Sciences states that 60 percent of eighth graders say alcohol is fairly easy or very easy to obtain. Ninety percent of twelfth graders say it is fairly easy or very easy to obtain.
